On the Complexity Landscape of Connected f-Factor Problems

چکیده
Given an n-vertex graph G and a function f : V (G)→ {0, . . . , n−1}, an f -factor is a subgraph H of G such that degH(v) = f(v) for every vertex v ∈ V (G); we say that H is a connected f -factor if, in addition, the subgraph H is connected. A classical result of Tutte (1954) is the polynomial time algorithm to check whether a given graph has a specified f -factor. However, checking for the presence of a connected f -factor is easily seen to generalize Hamiltonian Cycle and hence is NP-complete. In fact, the Connected f-Factor problem remains NP-complete even when f(v) is at least n for each vertex v and < 1; on the other side of the spectrum, the problem was known to be polynomial-time solvable when f(v) is at least n3 for every vertex v. In this paper, we extend this line of work and obtain new complexity results based on restricting the function f . In particular, we show that when f(v) is required to be at least n (logn)c , the problem can be solved in quasi-polynomial time in general and in randomized polynomial time if c ≤ 1. We also show that when c > 1, the problem is NP-intermediate. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.1.3 Complexity Measures and Classes, G.2.2 Graph Theory

Can We Reduce Salinity Effects by the Application of Humic Acid on Native Turfgrasses in order to Attain Sustainable Landscape?
Soil salinity is one of the most important problems in dry and semi-dry climate areas of the world. So, we investigated the effects of humic acid on visual quality and quantity parameters of native turfgrasses in compared to commercial one under salinity stress to explore can we reduce salinity effects by humic acid or not? So, an experiment was arranged in factorial experiment based on randomi...
متن کاملEvaluating the Correlation Between Pollination Ecosystem Service and Landscape Pattern metrics (Case Study: Qazvin Province)
Pollination is an ecological service with high economic values related to human and ecological wellbeing. This study aims to evaluate the correlation between landscape complexity and pollination service (bee) in Qazvin province at the landscape scale. Landscape pattern metrics (Number of Patches (NP), Patch Richness (PR), Edge Density (ED), and Shannon Index (H)), as a proxy of landscape comple...
متن کاملEffect of humic acid and mulches on some characteristics of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)
Application of biotic growth regulators (e.g. humic components) and appropriate mulches is recommended to improve turfgrass quality. However, limited research has investigated their effect on lawn establishment. To investigate the effect of humic acid and selected mulches on characteristics of Festuca arundinacea in its planting stage, a factorial experiment based on a completely rando...
متن کاملImproving early growing stage of Festuca arundinacea Schreb. using media amendments under water stress conditions
Developing strategies to tackle water stress in lawns in arid climate regions is significantly important. In such conditions, using growing media amendments as well as native plants can relieve drought stress in different growing stages of the plants. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of some types of soil amendments on the emergence and early seedling establishment of ...
